2020 Innovations Grants Round

Applications for the 2020 Round close at 5pm on the 14th September 2020.

Brain cancer patients need a game changer. In 2019 the MHF Scientific Committee undertook a nationwide search within Australia’s medical research community for the best, most innovative ideas with the greatest chance of a big breakthrough or impact. The researchers chosen for funding in the 2019 Innovation Grants Round are busy working across Australia developing new ways to detect and treat brain cancers and new ways to support patients and their families following diagnosis.

Developing new diagnostics and treatment takes time and funding – and through these Innovation Grants your support is providing researchers with vital seed funding to kickstart these potentially game-changing projects.

After our successful 2020 Beanies for Brain Cancer Campaign, the MHF Scientific Committee is once again inviting researchers across Australia to work together, collaborate and put forward innovative research projects to improve outcomes for patients diagnosed with brain cancer. Our Scientific Committee will consider all submissions but are looking particularly for projects that bring new ideas and people together to collaborate.

Grants will be allocated via an open and competitive process managed by Hunter Medical Research Institute’s (HMRI’s) Research Services Team. The MHF Scientific Committee will be selecting projects on merit that are innovative and align with MHF core objectives:

To promote research most likely to improve the outcomes of patients with brain cancer in Australia.

Up to $1.5 million is available in this funding round, with between $150,000 – $200,000 available per two-year project.

The 2020 MHF Innovation Grant round is open to medical researchers from universities or research institutes across Australia. Researchers needing more information should visit here or contact the HMRI Research Services Team via [email protected]
