Well folks, it’s finally happening, the beard is coming off.
After 12 years of hiding half my face, I’ve decided to shave it all off for a good cause. On 31 October at Movember Australia HQ in Melbourne, the clippers are coming out.
Why? Because if I’m going to lose the beard, it may as well raise some serious money for three incredible charities: Mark Hughes Foundation – $50,000 for brain cancer research and support
CareFlight – $25,000 to keep their helicopters in the sky saving lives
Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia – $25,000 to look after people in the bush
That’s a $100,000 target we’re chasing.
I first grew the beard when my wife was pregnant with our daughter Zoe. I figured if she was growing something, I would too. Twelve years later, it’s still here, but not for much longer.
I’m a bit nervous about what my head will look like and my kids probably won’t recognise me, but if it helps raise money for people doing it tough, it’s worth it.
