At The Junction Public School the annual Beanies for Brain Cancer campaign is more than just a fundraiser—it’s a powerful lesson in kindness, teamwork, and the impact of small actions.
Alison Cheek, the school’s dedicated P&C secretary, watched with pride as students excitedly pulled on their Mark Hughes Foundation beanies, knowing they were part of something much bigger than themselves.
“Even though these kids are still in primary school, they understand that there are big, tricky problems in the world that need solving,” Alison said. “The best way to tackle them is by working together. Even at their age, they can be part of making a real difference.”
The students, eager to contribute, shared stories of loved ones affected by cancer, reinforcing the reality that illness does not discriminate by age. For them, this was more than just a charity event—it was a chance to stand together, to show support, and to believe in a future.
Are you ready to register your Beanie Day and help us in the fight against brain cancer? Let’s get started!
Brain cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in children, and adults aged under 40 in Australia, yet alarmingly very little is known about brain cancer, its causes or how it is treated.
That’s why we need your help. Every dollar helps in the fight against brain cancer. Your donation will go towards vital research to improve patient treatments and, hopefully, find a cure one day.
All donations of $2 or more are tax deductible.
