A huge milestone for the brain tumour community as Health Minister Mark Butler MP announced that Vorasidenib will be listed on the PBS. A truly groundbreaking moment, this is the first new treatment in 20 years for a rare brain cancer and listing it on the PBS makes it affordable and accessible to patients. This treatment option for Australians with IDH-mutant astrocytoma and oligodendroglioma targets the underlying genetic mutation that drives tumour growth, helping to slow disease progression in patients with these rare brain tumours.
This outcome is testament to the power of community who came together with clinicians and researchers and got involved in clinical trials, advocated and shared their voice in huge numbers to the PBS.
