Thanks to last years Christmas campaign – Giving Season, we are pleased to announce the advertisement of the Garry Willgoose PhD Scholarship. The successful applicant will work as a part of the MHF Centre fro Brain Cancer in the Imaging Centre at HMRI co-supervised by Assoc Prof Saad Ramadan, Prof Michael Breakspear and Prof Mike Fay.

The project aims to develop new methods to analyse medical images including MRI and PET to enhance the information provided to clinicians caring for patients with brain cancer. This will provide earlier indicators of treatment effect and help to optimise decisions around patient treatment.

This PhD Scholarship honours the memory of Professor Garry Willgoose, a long-term staff member of the University of Newcastle and Professor of Engineering. Garry was committed to lifelong learning and a strong advocate of the importance of research in solving real-world problems. Donate today & help beat brain cancer

Brain cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in children, and adults aged under 40 in Australia, yet alarmingly very little is known about brain cancer, its causes or how it is treated.

That’s why we need your help. Every dollar helps in the fight against brain cancer. Your donation will go towards vital research to improve patient treatments and, hopefully, find a cure one day.

All donations of $2 or more are tax deductible.
