Birthday Boys to Celebrate at NRL ‘Beanies for Brain Cancer’ Round

Harry Wiseman, who turns 8 on Saturday (gameday) is now in remission after a four-year battle with brain cancer and will lead the team out with Captain Adam Reynolds, for the NRL’s Beanies For Brain Cancer Round.

It’s the seventh annual Charity Round, supporting the Mark Hughes Foundation.Harry was diagnosed with a rare form of brain cancer called Ependymoma in 2018, after waking one Sunday morning with a severe earache.Harry and his family were treated to a sneak peek of the Broncos ‘home away from home’, alongside Reynolds and Herbie Farnworth, along with Charlie Cameron and Jack Payne.Mum Amanda Wiseman“Harry just loves his Broncos, they’re his superheroes and he’s so excited with his special job on Saturday night. It really does mean the world to our family.”The cross-code support from Lions AFL player Charlie Cameron comes after Reynolds and Corey Oates supported the AFL’s ‘Beanies Round’ supporting MND with the Lions’ Big Freeze at The Gabba a fortnight ago.Broncos Captain Adam Reynolds“Harry is a little champion, who has been brought up very well, and it was great to check out our second home with him.“Being a Dad, I can only imagine what he and his family have been through, but you wouldn’t know it now – his smile lit up The Gabba when we met him.“This is what footy is all about, being able to support these causes. The rugby league world isn’t immune to life’s tough times and we see that with Mark Hughes. The work that’s been done to raise awareness of brain cancer has been incredible for years.”

Donate today & help beat brain cancer

Brain cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in children, and adults aged under 40 in Australia, yet alarmingly very little is known about brain cancer, its causes or how it is treated.

That’s why we need your help. Every dollar helps in the fight against brain cancer. Your donation will go towards vital research to improve patient treatments and, hopefully, find a cure one day.

All donations of $2 or more are tax deductible.
