Former Knights Ride to Beat Brain Cancer

A team of former Newcastle Knights are trading in their footy boots for bike cleats to take on an epic 300km+ ride for the Mark Hughes Foundation.

Led by club legend Kurt Gidley, the crew includes Daniel Abraham, Robbie Tew, Luke Quigley, Trent Salkeld, Chris Houston, Todd Polglase, Matt Kennedy, James Wynne, Jamie Fitzgerald, Chris Bailey, and mates Rhys Smith, Robbie McNaughton, Marty Parker, and John Holland.

Their journey officially begins on Tuesday, May 20th with an event at the Wallabadah Hotel at 6pm. Wednesday morning the adventure starts, with a 100km ride from Wallabadah to Moonan Flat, followed by a get together with the locals at Moonan Flat Pub, 6pm Wednesday night. Thursday is another 100km stretch to Gloucester where the team will rest up ready for the final and toughest leg. The riders will cover 130km to Newcastle on day three, pushing themselves to the limit for a cause close to their hearts. That evening, the team will celebrate their incredible effort with a fundraising finale, gathering with supporters. A fitting end to a powerful ride.

Driven by mateship, community spirit, and a passion to make a difference, these riders are pushing themselves to help fund brain cancer research and patient support.

This ride wouldn’t be possible without our incredible support crew and generous sponsors who are backing our mission to beat brain cancer every step (and pedal) of the way.

Donate today & help beat brain cancer

Brain cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in children, and adults aged under 40 in Australia, yet alarmingly very little is known about brain cancer, its causes or how it is treated.

That’s why we need your help. Every dollar helps in the fight against brain cancer. Your donation will go towards vital research to improve patient treatments and, hopefully, find a cure one day.

All donations of $2 or more are tax deductible.
