MHF Centre visits Sydney

Last week MHF Centre Director Professor Mike Fay and Centre Manager Kylie Hugo attended the NSW Cancer Conference at the ICC in Sydney as well as the National Press Club address by Professors Richard Scolyer and Georgina Long.

During the NSW Cancer Conference Translation Neuroscience Stream Leader, Professor Hubert Hondermarck presented on Cancer Neuroscience: a new frontier in oncology and Dr Mathew Lozinski discussed his work on the targeting of DNA damage response pathways to enhance the standard treatment in Glioblastoma.

The Nation Press Club address by Professors Richard Scolyer and Georgina Long, Co-Medical Directors of the Melanoma Institute Australia raised some thought-provoking early results in Richard’s own personal brain cancer journey.

We strongly support their global call for the cancer field to think big and be courageous! Their challenge to “…look beyond the confines of one cancer, particularly for the subset of patients who are dying on ‘standard treatments’; to design better and cleverer clinical trials and ensure greater access to patients; and to embed research into clinical care to generate scientific data faster…” is applauded.

We look forward to hearing more on their innovative approach and working with our colleagues to push the current boundaries for cancer patients.

Donate today & help beat brain cancer

Brain cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in children, and adults aged under 40 in Australia, yet alarmingly very little is known about brain cancer, its causes or how it is treated.

That’s why we need your help. Every dollar helps in the fight against brain cancer. Your donation will go towards vital research to improve patient treatments and, hopefully, find a cure one day.

All donations of $2 or more are tax deductible.
