Turning Steps into Support

Today marks the beginning of an extraordinary journey as the 2026 Kokoda ANZAC Trek team sets off on a powerful mission of endurance, mateship and purpose.

37 passionate trekkers are embarking on the iconic Kokoda Track with one shared goal — to raise vital funds to support brain cancer patients and their families.

The journey begins with the team travelling from Australia to Port Moresby before flying into Kokoda, where the trek officially gets underway, Saturday April 18. From there, they will take on the legendary track, moving through significant historical sites including Isurava and Templeton’s Crossing, while navigating dense rainforest, steep mountain ridges and remote villages.

Over the following days, the team will climb to some of the highest points of the track around Mt Bellamy before descending through Efogi, Menari and Nauro. Each day will test both physical and mental limits, with steep ascents, muddy descents, river crossings and open grasslands — all while immersed in the history and spirit of the trail. After reaching Owers Corner on Day 7, our tired but determined trekkers will return to Port Moresby to prepare for a moving ANZAC Dawn Service the following day, before flying home to their families, friends and incredible supporters.

Driven by a commitment to make a real difference, the team is aiming to raise more than $220,000 after smashing their initial $150,000 goal! These important funds will directly support the introduction of our new Paediatric Brain Cancer Care Coordinator within the Hunter New England region, Ti-Anna. Based at John Hunter Children’s Hospital, Ti-Anna will provide specialised care and guidance to children and families navigating the complex and often overwhelming brain cancer journey.

In addition, funds raised will help deliver a children’s patient packs, offering comfort, support and reassurance to young patients at one of the most difficult times in their lives.

With the incredible backing of major sponsors Robson Civil Projects, Thiess, Bandu, and Principle Living, we are so grateful for this support and to everyone that has helped reach the outstanding amount already raised! Now with the trek officially underway, every step taken is one step closer to ensuring no family faces brain cancer alone.

Donate today & help beat brain cancer

Brain cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in children, and adults aged under 40 in Australia, yet alarmingly very little is known about brain cancer, its causes or how it is treated.

That’s why we need your help. Every dollar helps in the fight against brain cancer. Your donation will go towards vital research to improve patient treatments and, hopefully, find a cure one day.

All donations of $2 or more are tax deductible.
