Ethan, Our King of Hearts

Our beautiful boy Ethan was funny, confident, strong and full of love for his family and friends who also enjoyed travel, football (soccer), fashion, especially shoes but his pride and joy was his Mercedes.

Ethan worked as a barber and at the age of 19, on just a normal work day the 30th July 2021, Ethan experienced a life changing seizure that would devastate us all, with a diagnosis to follow of Glioblastoma.

Ethan took this diagnosis so bravely and remained strong and positive, no matter what was thrown at him. After 2 operations, radiation and many rounds of chemotherapy, Ethan had a new focus on what he wanted from life.

Travel was his passion and he embarked on doing as much as he could and seeing as many places as possible. His father, older brother and myself were fortunate enough to accompany Ethan on some truly wonderful holidays and we will hold these special memories in our hearts forever.

Ethan also got to spend over 3 months in Newcastle, England where he got to attend many games of his beloved football team Newcastle United. He also got to visit some amazing places whilst over there, such as Santorini and Mykonos. We also as a family did a wonderful cruise to Tahiti and Hawaii, which was fabulous to experience all together. We also celebrated Ethan’s 21st in style and gave him a party to remember in an opulent penthouse overlooking the Gold Coast for his close friends and family.

Ethan also trained as a support worker as he wanted to help others and also didn’t want people to be defined by their disability as he never wanted to be defined by his diagnosis.

Around August 2023, we were given further devastating news that Ethan’s cancer had returned. On a holiday in New Zealand at Christmas time, Ethan had life changing seizures, the first ones since his original diagnosis. We had to Medivac Ethan home as he lost all mobility. He was transferred to Palliative Care once back on the Gold Coast where he was stabilised before being able to come home and to be looked after by his family.

On 6th April 2024, Ethan bravely fought until the end. We were so privileged to be able to be there with him in our home and show him how much he was truly loved. The light has gone from our lives, our hearts have been shattered but he’ll be forever with us, remembered as a true warrior, our hero, forever 22.

Donate today & help beat brain cancer

Brain cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in children, and adults aged under 40 in Australia, yet alarmingly very little is known about brain cancer, its causes or how it is treated.

That’s why we need your help. Every dollar helps in the fight against brain cancer. Your donation will go towards vital research to improve patient treatments and, hopefully, find a cure one day.

All donations of $2 or more are tax deductible.
