This year, one of the featured faces of our Beanie for Brain Cancer campaign is Meg Nagle along with her partner, Heath. Meg’s mum, Penny, was a loving wife, mother, daughter, and friend whose life was tragically cut short by brain cancer in less than six weeks. In her honour, Meg and her family have raised nearly half a million dollars to help others facing this devastating disease. Meg has been the driving force behind their incredible efforts — and now she shares what made her mum so special, and why supporting brain cancer research means so much to them.
My Mum was so extremely considerate of others, always putting everyone before herself !! She owned Helloworld Travel in Singleton and was a very passionate travel agent. Not only was she passionate in her work industry but she was also an amazing mother to me, Nellie and Patrick.
Our family home is on a property 30 minutes from Singleton and we have been given some of the most amazing opportunities growing up. Mum loved her home and driving through the hills listening to the tunes loud as she would be greeted by her beloved Jack Russell, Douglas. She was always so content and happy around Dad and us kids!
The reason we work so hard for MHF is to raise money to help what took our beloved Mum away from us in such a short amount of time. Our passion is huge for MHF as we know they work so hard to make a difference to brain cancer!! Fundraising, treks and voluntary events are all easy compared to going through brain cancer , and we will continue to fight for as long as we need.
