Where to find Help

The MHF is focused on brain cancer research in the hope that we will find a cure for brain cancer in the future

If you need personal or financial assistance, there are various organisations that can provide support for people living with cancer, their families and carers. If you would like more information, please visit the following websites for support:

Brain Tumour Alliance Australia

Brain Tumour Alliance Australia (BTAA) is the national brain tumour patient and carer support organisation in Australia. It was established in late 2008 by a group of brain tumour patients, and current and former carers. While welcoming the advice and input of specialists, BTAA seeks to represent the brain tumour community from the viewpoint of the patient, their carers, and their families.

Peace of Mind Foundation

Peace of Mind Foundation is a nationwide not-for-profit organisation, providing ‘Here and Now’ support to brain cancer patients and their families across Australia. Peace of Mind’s mission is to give support, courage and community to brain cancer patients, their carers, family and loved ones.

Brainchild Foundation

Brainchild Foundation supports the families of children who have been affected by brain and spinal cord tumours. Brainchild Foundation is dedicated to making a difference in the lives of affected families through financial, emotional and educational support and to strive for a better outcome for future generations.

Cancer Council

Information and support is available for anyone affected by cancer, whether you are a patient, carer, family or friend. Peer support is available online, through phone contact one on one, or through a telephone support group dedicated to people living with brain cancer. Carers can also access a telephone support group and talk to others in a caring role.

Redkite

Redkite is a lifeline for families facing childhood cancer. Redkite is there with real emotional, financial and practical support for families who have a child with cancer (aged 18 and under). Because holding it together when your child’s life is in question can feel impossible.

Australian Cancer Trials

Australian Cancer Trials provides a database of research trials that are currently being carried out in Australia to find better ways of treating cancer. Cancer clinical trials are carefully designed research studies. A clinical trial aims to find out if a new treatment or procedure is safe and effective.

HealthDirect Australia

Healthdirect Australia is a national, government-owned, not-for-profit organisation. Healthdirect Australia provide trusted health services that are easily accessible via multiple channels — helplines, video call solutions, websites, service finders, mobile applications and social media networks.

Palliative Care Australia

Palliative Care Australia (PCA) is the national peak body for palliative care. PCA represents all those who work towards high quality palliative care for all Australians. Working closely with consumers, our Member Organisations and the palliative care workforce, we aim to improve access to, and promote the need for, palliative care.

Caring for the Carer

The CarerWell website and program has been created by mental health professionals and researchers from the University of Newcastle and the Hunter Medical Research Institute (HMRI), with the support of an Innovation Grant from the Mark Hughes Foundation.

The Brain Cancer Group

Our Nurse Practitioner forms part of the collaborative team that works across multiple neuro-oncology disciplines to provide tailored care that puts the patient’s needs first. In addition to providing ongoing support to patients and families, our expert Nurse Practitioner is also helping lead a Collaborative Care Project to provide support and resources to other Brain Cancer Care Co-ordinators across NSW.

The Australian Brain Cancer Foundation (ABCF)

The Australian Brain Cancer Foundation (ABCF) is dedicated to transforming brain cancer outcomes by making Canberra, our Nation’s Capital a leading hub for innovation, patient support, and research. Through bold action, strategic funding partnerships, and community-driven impact, we aim to improve the quality of life and position Australia as a global leader in the fight against brain cancer.

Olivia Newton-John Cancer and Wellness Centre

The Brain Tumour Support Service is available to people diagnosed with a primary malignant brain tumour, as well as their family, friends and carers. This service provides information, counselling and support and can be accessed in a number of ways.

Building the Bridge to Life with Brain Cancer

The Building the Bridge to Life with Brain Cancer project has been developed with a Victorian Cancer Survivorship Program Project Grant funded by the State Government of Victoria, Department of Health and Human Services. The project was led by the Neuro-oncology team at the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness & Research Centre — Austin Health. Project collaborators were Cabrini Health, Monash Health, Australian Cancer Survivorship Centre, Cancer Council Victoria and North Eastern Melbourne Integrated Cancer Service.

First Light Widowed Support

We exist to connect you to the programs, community and information that may be able to help you in this journey. First Light is Australia’s only charity providing national support to young widowed people from all backgrounds and relationship structures. We also guide loved ones of widowed individuals in providing support during widowhood and strive to raise awareness about, and remove the stigma around, the experience of grief.

Donate today & help beat brain cancer

Brain cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in children, and adults aged under 40 in Australia, yet alarmingly very little is known about brain cancer, its causes or how it is treated.

That’s why we need your help. Every dollar helps in the fight against brain cancer. Your donation will go towards vital research to improve patient treatments and, hopefully, find a cure one day.

All donations of $2 or more are tax deductible.
