After a successful inaugural event in 2018, we are pleased to advise that The Mark Hughes Foundation will once again be the recipient of funds raised at the second Evolution Charity Cup on Dixon Park beach on Friday 15th March 2019 - a vital part of Surfest 2019.The event is a tag team style surfing surfing competition comprising 20 teams made up of employees or business connections of registered companies plus one wild card surfer. Each team will undertake fundraising to help achieve an overall target donation of $100,000 to the Mark Hughes Foundation.
Last year’s fundraising total of almost $90,000 has contributed to the continuation of the MHF Brain Cancer Care Coordinator role for another three years in the Hunter New England area. The MHF Brain Cancer Care Co-ordinator has assisted 450 patients and families, attended over 480 clinic appointments with patients, and has made over 180 referrals to services such as social work, palliative care and speech therapy to name a few.
Evolution Director Darren Glover says the Evolution Charity Cup is an opportunity for combining business and pleasure with the added bonus of supporting a very worthwhile cause.Mr Glover said, “We were blown away by the support of Newcastle businesses last year and we’re excited to continue to support the Mark Hughes Foundation again in 2019. This city loves its sport and has a generous spirit, so we see the event as a perfect fit between business, sport and charity.”We are proud as a local Foundation to be a part of Surfest again in 2019 with Evolution Advisers. We hope to raise over $100,000 at the 2019 event in one day. Huge thanks to the Count Charitable Foundation who kick started the fundraising with a $5000 cheque and of course to the amazing team at Evolution Advisers. We can’t wait to be part of this event again.
